On Grief & Grieving             Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, MD 2005
    Finding the
Meaning of Grief through the Five Stages of Loss

The fact that I, and my Caregivers, had to deal with what I had LOST from my Stroke

was pointed out to me by Dr. Cheryl Osborn. She recommended we read this book written by Dr. Kubler-Ross shortly before her death in 2006.

Healing Into Possibility              Alison Bonds Shapiro 2009
A witness to the possibilities in Stroke Recovery

This was the first personal account of a Stroke Survivor, telling her story of Recovery.

It was made available to me and my Caregivers by the staff of KFRC during my Acute Rehabilitation in the summer of 2021.

Soft-Wired                               Michael Merzenich, Ph.D. 2013
Exploring how the Brain can rewire itself.

This book helped us in our understanding and appreciation of the science known as Neuroplasticity; and how my brain recovery could be possible with a commitment to the thousands of repetitions that would be necessary for my rehabilitation.

The Brain's Way Of Healing           Norman Doidge, MD 2015
Astounding advances in the treatment of brain injury.

A special look into the potential of the human brain to renew its lost functions.
