Supporting Stroke Survivors On The Road To Stroke Recovery.
Somewhere tonight, a Stroke Survivor in a hospital having just survived a Stroke.
It was unexpected and interrupted their life in ways they still can't imagine.
After their family has gone home, they will have only shock, fear, and a growing bewilderment to keep them company through their first long, unsettling night.

I remember my night of unexpected loneliness in the ER. I had become a Stroke Survivor. And. I was filled with despair and questions about my stroke recovery.
My wife of 49 years, with tears in her eyes said just before she returned to our home alone, "I’m afraid. I don’t know if I can handle this !” I tried my best to reassure her.
But, her words crept into my heart with a haunting feeling. I had only the dim lights
and pulsating monitors to keep me company.
However, I did have one final visitor that night.
He was someone whose face I could never recall. And, I never did get his name.
In his attempt to summarize what had happened, he left me with a cold sense of doom,
and no hope for my future. I laid fully awake for the rest of that first night, filled
only with my growing list of questions, fears, and worries about my stroke recovery.
My desperation, as a new Stroke Survivor, had now been joined by disillusionment.
I prayed all night for some sign of HOPE, and Stroke Recovery !
